Welcome
to the Living Word Lutheran Church website. We pray that God may bless this opportunity to hear about your Savior, Jesus Christ.
Jesus is your Savior. He has redeemed you, a lost and condemned person, purchased and won you from all sin, from death, and from the power of the devil, not with gold or silver, but with His holy, precious blood and His innocent suffering and death.
To hear more about how Christ saved you from sin, death and the devil, come join us Sunday mornings or contact Pastor Aaron Ude. His contact information is on the left. Also, feel free to look through this website for more information on our church.
Who are we … We are Living Word because God’s word is living and powerful, able to create faith in sinful and rebellious hearts. It has the power to make those who are spiritually dead alive in Christ. Nothing else on earth has the power to do this.
Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword.”
We are Lutheran… because we believe and teach the beautiful Biblical principals reclaimed in the reformation: Grace alone, Faith alone, Scripture alone. Also, because we confess the creeds of the Lutheran Church without qualification as they are found in the Book of Concord 1580.
Grace alone… Grace is undeserved love. Because of our sin we deserve death and hell, but God in His love for us gives us forgiveness and heaven.
Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Faith Alone… The way we receive this gift of forgiveness and eternal life is through faith in Christ Jesus.
John 3:18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”
Scripture Alone… The only way we can know of God and His will for us is through God’s word -the Bible.
2 Timothy 3:16 “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.”
We are a Church because… Matthew 18:20 “For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”
We are a Member of the CLC…which stands for the Church of the Lutheran Confession. For more information visit http://clclutheran.org/
Weekly Sermon
Pastor Aaron Ude, May 13, 2012
1 John 4:1-16
4:1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 3 and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already. 4 Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. 5 They are from the world; therefore they speak from the world, and the world listens to them. 6 We are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of error.
7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9 In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. 10 In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.
13 By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. 14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. 15 Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. 16 So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. (ESV)
There but for the Grace of God!
